How the At-Home Grillz Impression Kit Works

That is the whole process, and it is the part most people are unsure about before they order. Here is what actually arrives, what happens at each stage, what it costs, and how long the full round trip really takes.
The four stages, start to finish
The product pages set this out in four steps, and each one has a different owner. Two are ours, two are yours.
- You choose the configuration. Top teeth, bottom teeth, metal and finish, all selected on the product page before you check out.
- We mail your impression kit within 1 business day. It contains everything you need to take the impression at home, plus a step by step guide with detailed instructions.
- You take the impression and mail it back in the prepaid envelope included in the kit.
- We hand craft your grill to that mold and ship it to you. Your impressions come back with it, so a future order can be made without repeating this step, along with a free polishing cloth.
The detail in step four is worth pausing on. Keeping your impressions means the second set you ever order skips the kit stage entirely. If you start with a four-tooth top in silver and later want a full top and bottom in gold, the mold work is already done.
How long it actually takes
The product pages state 3 to 5 weeks completion time on average. That figure covers the making of the piece. The full door to door time is longer, because there are two mail legs before the work even starts.
- Kit out: we mail it within 1 business day of your order, then normal postal transit.
- Your part: however long you take. This is the stage that varies most, and it is entirely in your control.
- Impression back to us: prepaid envelope, normal postal transit.
- Making and return shipping: the 3 to 5 week average.
The practical advice: if you want grillz for a specific date, order at least two months out and take the impression the day the kit lands. The single biggest cause of a late set is a kit sitting on a counter for a fortnight.
Taking a good impression
The kit comes with its own step by step guide, and that guide is the authority on the exact method for the material in your box. Read it end to end before you open anything. What follows is not a replacement for it, it is the handful of things that separate an impression we can work from and one that has to be redone.
- Do it when you have twenty unhurried minutes. Impression material sets on its own schedule and it does not wait for you to find the instructions.
- Brush and rinse first. A clean, debris-free surface gives a cleaner mold.
- Seat the tray evenly and hold completely still. Almost every failed impression is a movement problem, not a material problem. Talking, shifting the tray or pulling it early smears the detail exactly where the fit matters.
- Do not pull the tray out until the material has fully set. Early removal distorts the mold in ways that are not obvious to the eye but are very obvious in the finished piece.
- Look at what you made before you seal the envelope. You should be able to see distinct, separated tooth shapes with clean edges. A blurred or shallow impression will produce a grill that does not sit right.
- Mail it back promptly. Do not let it sit for weeks.
If something goes wrong or you are not confident in what you took, message us before you send it. Sorting it out at that point costs a few days. Sorting it out after a piece has been made costs a great deal more.
What it costs
Price is driven by three things: how many teeth you cover on top, how many on the bottom, and which metal. Every configuration is made to the same mold, so the metal is the biggest lever.

Coverage runs 4, 6, 8 or 10 teeth on each arch, and either arch can be set to none, so a top-only or bottom-only set is a normal order rather than a special request. Each step up in tooth count adds cost in a straight line, which makes the entry point genuinely low: a four-tooth top in .925 sterling silver is $140.
Which metal to choose
All three are solid metal, not plated, and all three come in white, yellow or rose finishes with a hand polished mirror shine.
- .925 sterling silver is the way most people start. It is the same solid silver we use across the whole collection, it takes a bright polish, and it is the only option that lets you test whether you actually enjoy wearing grillz before committing four figures.
- 10K gold is the harder of the two golds, because a lower karat means more alloy metal in the mix. It holds a polished edge well.
- 14K gold carries more pure gold, giving a richer color and more intrinsic value, at a modest premium over 10K.

Wearing and caring for them
The care instructions on every grillz product page are short and worth following exactly.
- Remove before eating, drinking and sleeping.
- Rinse with warm water after each wear.
- Dry fully before storing.
- Use the included cloth to restore shine.
Grillz are removable jewelry and should be treated that way. They are not designed to be worn while you eat, and leaving them in overnight traps moisture against your teeth for hours.
